Before the player stories, there was a familiar question: what would a life simulation look like if it felt closer to home? In an October 1 post on X, Lagos Life creator Shalom Rayhamen connected the idea to growing up with The Sims 3.

The next spark, according to the post, was seeing @eureka_seamless riding a danfo through Lagos. Rayhamen introduced the resulting game as Lagos Life Sims and invited people to look around and make a friend.

When the city had four neighbors

In a reply to the launch thread, Rayhamen shared an early mobile map and wrote, “I have 4 neighbors now.” The image gives that enormous-city idea a wonderfully small starting point: a handful of homes, a few destinations and people beginning to arrive.

That invitation helps explain the tone of the project. The starting point was a recognisable place and the possibility of meeting someone in it. For Buzz, that is also where the interesting stories begin: with what people bring into the city once they arrive.

The original launch post is linked below. It is a useful first stop for anyone who has seen the game in a group chat and wondered where it came from.
