Our LagosLife session began with neighbourhood solidarity. A flood event offered the chance to clear a blocked gutter with the neighbours. We chose it, and the game replied that the whole street had come out: community wins. [1]
Later, on the way to Naija Radio House, three Area Boys blocked our path. This time, the community spirit was payable in naira.

Pay ₦200… or try talking our way out?
We tried the Charisma check. This attempt failed.
They collected ₦400. Double the listed safe payment.
Before the trip: ₦1,085,000.
After Keke: ₦1,084,650. Transport had already cost ₦350.
Final wallet: ₦1,084,250. ₦350 travel + ₦400 event = ₦750.
We selected Talk your way out. It did not go well.
Four choices, one expensive conversation
The encounter offered four options: pay ₦200 with a Safe label, try a Charisma check by talking, run with a Fitness check, or stand our ground using Fitness.
The last option showed a 77% chance that they would back off, with ₦200 and an Energy hit listed for a loss. That percentage belonged to standing our ground. The talking option did not show the same odds.
Our chosen conversation ended with a plain verdict: “It didn't work. They collected ₦400.”

In this encounter, the failed attempt cost twice the amount displayed beside the safe payment choice. We had tried the option that might avoid paying and instead produced the session’s least successful negotiation. This was one outcome, not evidence that every failed Charisma check always charges the same amount.
Why the wallet appeared to lose ₦750
Checking only the balance before departure and after the encounter would have given the wrong story. The intermediate frame mattered:
| Moment | Wallet |
|---|---|
| Before leaving for Naija Radio House | ₦1,085,000 |
| After the ₦350 Keke fare | ₦1,084,650 |
| After the failed conversation | ₦1,084,250 |
The full drop was ₦750, but the encounter accounted for ₦400. The other ₦350 had already paid for transport. Both changes were visible separately, and the encounter’s own message confirmed its charge.
The needs display also changed slightly during the broader interval. We cannot turn that into a claim that talking grants a fixed Social bonus: the recording included time spent travelling and waiting at the event.
The trip still had a useful ending
We reached Naija Radio House, caught the glowing U and moved our ZUKO hunt to 2/5. The failed conversation had cost money; it had not stopped this run from continuing.
For a future attempt, the useful choice is between a clearly displayed payment and checks with uncertain outcomes. Read the label attached to each option, and keep enough money for both the route and a bad result. Our recorded negotiation experiment ended with a ₦400 lesson and a letter U.
