Your first LagosLife degree no longer has to define every future career plan. On 3 November, Shalom announced that graduates can return to university for a Master’s in a different field. The new qualification counts towards jobs in that profession, and the announcement also allows a later PhD. [1]

Already a graduate? Start with the university

The route given is to visit your university and choose Start a Master’s. The entry condition named in the notice is already having a degree. This is therefore a different stage from a new character’s undergraduate application, lectures and first exam. [1]

Before choosing a subject, decide which profession you actually want to explore and read the current course and job requirements side by side. A course title that sounds appealing and a qualification accepted by a particular job are two different checks. Keep a note of the requirement you are trying to meet, then compare it with the qualification the course offers.

The notice says the new qualification counts towards jobs; it does not promise an automatic job assignment, a starting salary or instant promotion after enrolling. It also gives no fee or completion time. Use the application screen for those details rather than carrying over prices from an older undergraduate guide.

Already a lawyer? Abuja has a separate route

The same update batch says lawyers can move to Abuja and work at the FCT High Court in the Three Arms Zone while keeping their existing rank and title. This addresses continuity for an established legal career in a new city. [2]

The two changes should not be collapsed into one shortcut. The Master’s notice concerns a new qualification in another field. The court notice concerns existing lawyers retaining their position when relocating. Neither says that starting any Master’s immediately qualifies the character for a particular court role.

Record the career step you actually completed

A helpful before-and-after record has a small number of items: degree held, course selected, qualification awarded and job status. Keep enrolment separate from graduation, and a qualification separate from a successful application. For a relocation, note the old rank and compare it at the new workplace.

Our campus walkthrough remains useful for the earlier admission stage, with its original 7 October observation date. The screenshot here comes from that undergraduate visit. Today’s story adds the later official options without presenting the old application fee or attendance counters as evidence of a completed Master’s.
